- I have been surrounded by design all my life but I've only just realized that and all the wonderful people I know that are associated with some form of design. I started out designing and making my own furniture which has given me an appreciation and eye for detail, proportion, balance and harmony. I grew up watching old movies on the tv with my grandmother, you know, the glamorous 40's and 50's eras. Those films had some great examples of contemporary interiors, mainly Art Deco inspired. This has influenced me all my life; I gravitate towards glamour and luxurious furniture, finishes and interiors. I guess my style could be called sophisticated and classic with an eclectic twist. My other passion is the environment and the conservation of it. I try to support design and designers that are sympathetic to the same principles and I'm personally developing a range of furniture that is manufactured locally using sustainable materials. It's funny how we sometimes end up where we started out.
